the queen who?

So clearly the queen is one catty woman. I am surprised really that she... THE queen... didnt just off lettice and take her man. like... if you are all powerful and yada... just take the dude... I feel like why so many people are attracted to her and not just her (like everyone we looked at) is because of reputation. Like these people clearly have to keep it in line or else.

I feel like these avatars are defined car wrecks before we have had the idea of a car. Like when you pass by an accident you are really curious to see whats going on even if its really gruesome. People tend to have an underlining morbid curiosity and these authors use that to draw you in. Like ya that was totally a horrible accident but hey that person could have been "opposite of general and common understanding".

I am probably not making sense but that is fine. The semester is almost over

I just didn't much like the queen that much. Like I have seen things in my profession and not even that could shut me off and tear me from humanity. how could you live as a statue and as a queen allow some girl punk you (given behavior of that time period). Romaine lettuce should have "had her head snapped" -CJ

I feel like James Cameron got his idea of the terminator from the queen. Straight robot, cold steel, just hellbent on ruling, and being purely mechanical. All we see is sass from her. Really???...  just smile!

queen elizabeth

The queens transformation is undoubtedly apparent. she transforms from a young intelligent and literate girl to a ruler. Her final form tho is a statue??? I get the idea behind why she would want to be viewed as such but is that really worth throwing your life away... Like you could have still danced and enjoyed the things you did behind closed doors. Hell she could have danced all night and caked on all that make up and drew some eyeballs on her face and slept on the throne for the rest of the day. Like really....

I just think life is to precious to throw away like that just to become an icon. You could have been one for eternity anyways and not go down for a dirt nap that early... But I digress. I feel like she lived life backwards kind of like Benjamin Button did. She grew up and was wise and intelligent and through out her midlife had to kind of just figure it out just to grow old and make unwise/crazy choices. Like straight Queen of hearts.... except pretty... dress and all.

Clearly she was playing the game of thrones, and clearly she won because she still is an eternity later... ( #GOT hype) All in all, I think her "sacrifice" could have been noble... I just cant wrap my head around how she came across the logic that she had no other choice than to be a divine statue... Like soldiers aren't soldiers and cops aren't cops all the time. You have to be able to be "human" also. which is why I think her final development was what drove her to be as mad as the mad king Aerys Targaryen.

K I am done.

Rome...

I am going to stray from the main ideas and run to the side note. Clearly they threw as much money into this series as they did blood.

The book for me kind of rumbled on from incident to incident. There was no fluid story line. It was like someone was trying to shove information into brain without a break. (#math). Each person has different character qualities that can be picked up in the descriptions and accounts of the text, but the show does better. The book (kind of like my blog) just rambles on. This guy killed this guy, then killed this guy until he was dead, then fought another battle so hes a good general, and pirates.

The movie even tho it is made to be dramatic at least it gives us more of a timeline, kind of like a chapter breakdown. We get to see character facial expressions and can read body language. We get to see what type of living situation each is accustomed to. Apparently wardrobes back then were top notch. The parts between the bloodshed and sex scenes bring light to a character. For example, When Julius got executed we saw a lot of angry dudes killing him dead. It was a collective effort until it was Brutus was up for stab. I got more of the sense that it was almost like a sad mercy killing until he actually thrust the dagger into Julius.

I enjoyed and had a better understanding of the films based on the books. Usually the books are better because we can fill in the blanks with our own imagination. The Shakespearean texts are harder to follow. A lot harder. More times than not the book is better than the movie also. Of course like most time than not the movie is varied from the book. I do not think the film did justice to the characters either. What I am also curious about is what in the hell were they doing with their hands when they were speaking. Like seriously... who does that. Only person that comes to mind is Ricky Bobby. I think they watched Ricky on the news and took a page from his book.

Im not saying it was media... but it was media

I guess the type of media I am naturally drawn to is the news…on the tv…? Yes question mark… Media and I don’t get along very well for multiple reasons *cough tonypandy and bias cough* I like to know what is going on in the world, whether it be overseas or closer to home. So the overall news venue and I have a complicated relationship.

I tend to stay off of most of the social media sites. The app market is flooded with so many communication type programs that I have no interest in even attempting to keep up with which yakbookspacechat things that are in the current fad.

Okay maybe I lied a little bit. I use FB to keep up with friends and family that are spread around me but that’s about it. Instagram is okay but definitely No candy crush or Arnold combat war games.

In today’s world every bit of information ever known is floating in your pocket. We have access to it 24/7. When I grew up pagers were the biggest thing to have. Now every toddler has an IPhone. I have an understanding of media and how it works, and personally believe it’s our greatest feat and our biggest down fall. I believe it brainwashes society. The brainwashing has become so intense that when you pass by someone you don’t know, or uncomfortable with, or just don’t want to make eye contact with…9 times out of 10 you pull your phone out and open facebook instead of interacting.

If you haven’t figured it out by now I kind of dislike electronic forms of media. I did this thing as a kid called playing in the woods with sticks and mud. I would rather experience media first hand. For example going into the forest for a hike instead of looking pictures up on the interwebs, or go to a concert instead of paying a dollar for a song on Itunes on my phone…etc. Seeing a breathtaking landscape and being exposed to not only the visual aspect but the sounds, smells, and feelings of the ocean by a bonfire on a cool summer night will always be better than just seeing it on Instagram. I do have to admit seeing a picture can without a doubt stir emotions and touch ones soul but its still not the same.

The application and formality of the media and which venue it used to share that information is a big deal. Like we saw in class with the visiting professors different forms of media portray different messages. If I could have an ever changing newspaper (like in the harry potter films) that would snuggly fit in my pocket I would be squared away. Whatever medium of media I deal with has to have credibility and legitimacy. Unless its onion news network, they are the most legitimate news source ever known to man…ever!

Main point being I don’t really mess with the “media” stuffs. It is nice to relax and pull out a tablet and browse cool stuff or investigate cool things but I just can’t do it for long. Unless it’s something ludacris that will give me a laugh like…#ninjacat on IG or some meme. Totally don’t know if #ninjacat is real now I have to use media to find out…damn. Totally just gave away that I am an old man.

tonypandy... one hell of a word.

We all have a general understanding of the message of The Daughter of Time. How bias, perspective, and history add to the mystery of the already little know events surrounding Richard III.  We are taken into the authors thought process and research of the king. Recorded history itself is a mystery because of popular understanding and truism, victors write the history. I find it interesting that a single idea can shape the course of history. This is evident not only in today's world but understood by individuals in the past. It happens over and over, for example the 5th of November nearly 120 years after king Richard III. The 5th of November is still practiced today in an obscure way, now dubbed the million mask march.

I was a little put off when I first started reading the book. I kept coming across words I have never seen and didn't understand. So naturally I had to look them up. It was an annoying process for me. As I continued reading and started to get pulled into the pages, coming across a word I did not understand was like being interrupted during a movie. On the quest to discovering what the author of the mystery novel wanted to say about history, I was on a quest of my own trying to discover what words meant. Eventually I could understand them... until "tonypandy"

I focused on this term in trying to come up with a visual way of understanding it. I found the solution in Grant. Grant, like myself can pick up certain clues when he looks at faces. Looking at the Kings face I came up with a visual. I imagined the king was in the middle of circle of people. He was surrounded by the Tudors. They were playing the child's game of telephone. As information (history) got passed it continued to get muddied. On the outside of the ring were other people writing their accounts of Richard. The Tudors of course were bullies and wouldn't let the others join in the game. Thus we have tonypandy. Now we have conflicting accounts of history, facts, and perspectives surrounding Richard. No wonder he has that facial expression. His eye was twitching while he was taking his ring off. He was furious at the mockery and didn't want to hurt his "king" hand.

Funny how an idea, in this case a visual idea with the help of a portrait can "accurately" shape history 60% of the time, throughout all of time.
